Common errors
The validation, test, review, publishing and listing messages creators meet most often, what causes them and how to fix them.
This page lists the messages Studio and the API show most often while you build, test, review, publish and manage an agent, with their cause and fix. Messages are quoted as the product shows them; words in parentheses stand for your own step, section, tool or value names. It is for creators who have hit an error and want the fix.
Workflow builder#
These appear under To fix before testing, in the Outline and next to fields in Settings.

| "(tool) allows at most (N) calls." | Lower Call ceiling for (tool). |
| "Tool (tool id) needs argument (setting)" | Fill in the required setting on the data step. |
| "(tool) has no setting called (setting)." / "(tool) does not return (field)." | The step refers to a setting or output field the tool does not have. Choose again in the step's settings. |
| "The workflow has (N) steps but its limit is (M) (Settings, Advanced limits)." | Raise Maximum steps (up to 32) or remove steps. Inputs and Report output count. |
| "The workflow has more levels than its limit allows (Settings, Advanced limits)." | Raise Maximum graph depth (up to 16) or run steps side by side. |
| "Some steps depend on each other in a loop." | Untick one of the dependencies in the loop. |
| "An http.read tool needs at least one allowed domain" | A public web step has no declared sites, and the builder cannot add them. Remove the step, or build it with Record & replay's Declared public sites. |
| "Input (name) looks like a credential. Buyer inputs cannot collect secrets; declare a secret reference instead." | Rename the input. Inputs are public parameters. |
| "Literal values cannot embed 32-byte secrets or credentials; bind them as inputs or secret references" | A fixed value looks like a key or 32-byte secret. Remove it. |
| "Showing the source to anyone needs "Listed, source visible"." | Set Source visibility to Listed, source visible, or Source viewing to Only me. |
| "Allowing forks needs the source to be viewable by anyone." | Set Source viewing to Anyone who can see the published version, or Fork permission to Not permitted. |
| "Forks with attribution need an attribution notice." | Fill in Attribution notice. |
| "Secret references can only be used by public web steps." | Remove the secret references (see Secret references). |
| "The sample value for (finding) must be (type)." | Correct the value in Sample output or clear it. |
| "(step): AI analysis needs at least 256 maximum output tokens." | Raise Maximum output length (tokens) to 256 or more. Until then the draft saves but cannot become a test version. |
Saving and creating versions#

| "This workflow cannot become a test version: (reasons)" | The draft saved, but the server cannot run it as it is. Fix the listed reasons. |
| "This draft changed. Reload it before saving." | The draft was saved elsewhere. Reload the page and reapply your change. |
| "This workflow reproduces a platform template. Use Duplicate so its licence and attribution are recorded." | Start from Start from a permitted template instead of rebuilding it. |
| "This workflow reproduces another creator's published workflow. Use Duplicate so its licence and attribution are recorded." | Your draft matches someone else's published workflow. Change it substantially. |
| "Creator access is required." | Your account's creator role was removed. Contact AGENTEX through the channels on the About page. |
Tests and runs#

| "This version does not accept new tests." | The version is paused, deprecated or revoked. Create a new version. |
| "(name) is required" / "(name) must be a valid (type)" | An input is missing or of the wrong kind. |
| "(name) is an EVM address but the selected chain is Solana" | Choose an EVM chain, or use a Solana address input for Solana. |
| "Tool (tool id) reached its declared ceiling of (N) calls." | Raise Call ceiling for (tool) (up to the tool's maximum). |
| "(tool id) requested eth_getLogs over (N) blocks; the version allows at most (M)." | Raise Maximum log block span. |
| "(tool id) requested page (N) with (method); the version allows at most (M) paged requests per run." | Raise Maximum paged requests (up to 5). |
| "(tool id) requested (address), outside the input-bound address scope." | The tool needed an address the buyer did not supply. Add it as an input, or choose Inputs plus addresses seen in captured results. |
| "The workflow reached its read limit, so no further steps started." | Raise Maximum RPC calls, or read less. |
| "The workflow reached its duration limit; no further steps started." / "The step exceeded its (N) ms timeout." | Raise Run timeout or Step timeout, or split the work. |
| "Arguments were rejected by (tool): (details)" | A setting's value does not fit the tool, for example text where a number is needed. |
| "Tool (tool) failed (provider-unavailable)." | The data provider did not answer. Try again later; persistent failures on one chain may be a coverage gap. |
| "Condition (step) did not select this branch (false)." | Not an error: the step was skipped by the condition. |
AI analysis#
| Message | Cause and fix |

| "AI analysis (step) cited evidence that was not supplied to it." | The model cited evidence it was not given; the run fails. Tighten the instructions and pass the values you want summarised. |
| "The model reported insufficient evidence; no summary was produced." | The bound values did not support a summary. Pass more evidence, or make the section optional. |
| "The AI analysis step could not complete." / "The AI analysis stopped without an answer (reason)." | The model request failed or stopped. Try again; raise the output length if it stopped at its limit. |
| "This version's AI-assisted summary cap exceeds the production limit of US$0.05 per run. Create a version with a lower cap." | Buyers cannot get a quote. Lower the cap and create a new version. |
| "This workflow declares AI analysis (model tokens) without a per-run model cost cap, which commerce cannot cap in a quote. Set modelPolicy.maximumCostMicrousd in a new version to list, quote or settle it." | Set AI cost cap per run (US$) and create a new version. |
| "The operator has not approved a model tariff for this payment asset, so AI-assisted runs cannot be quoted." | ETH quotes for AI workflows need an operator-approved tariff. Sell in SOL or USDC, or wait. |
Review#

| "This immutable version already has a pinned review; create a new version for changed evidence." | A version pins one test. Create a new version to submit other evidence. |
| "Only a testing version can be submitted for review." | The version has left testing. |
| "The daily limit of ten immutable-version fixture evaluations is reached." | Wait until the 24-hour window passes. |
| "The creator test must contain canonical observed metadata; explicitly accept remaining partial control gaps." | For a partial Token Researcher test, tick the partial-report consent before submitting. |
| "The recorded workflow requires two passing unseen replay inputs on this exact version before publication." | Run two replays with new inputs in Record & replay. |
Publishing and pricing#

| "The gross creator fee exceeds the operator ceiling of (N) atomic units." | Lower the fee to the currency's maximum (for example 0.0435 SOL, 5 USDC or 0.002 ETH). |
| "This listing already exists with a different initial fee. Use a price revision to change the fee for new quotes." | The version is already listed in this currency. Change the price under Your listings. |
| "Enter a different fee to create a new price revision." / "The gross creator fee is unchanged." | The new fee equals the current one. |
| "The listing price changed to revision (N). Review the current price before revising." | The price changed since you loaded the page. Review it and try again. |

| "SOL and USDC payments use a Solana account. Sign in with a Solana wallet to deposit, buy, list or withdraw here." | Only Solana accounts can list in SOL or USDC. |
| "This display name imitates the AGENTEX platform or a first-party agent. Choose a distinct name." | Choose another profile name. |
| "Only workflows that read public chain data (no web reads, connectors, AI analysis or custom code) can publish a saved example." | This workflow cannot have a saved example. |
| "An address in this input or its report belongs to an AGENTEX account wallet, so it cannot be used or shown publicly." | Choose a test on a different address for the saved example. |
| "This listing already has a public saved example. Withdraw it before publishing another." | Withdraw the current example first. |
Managing listings#

| "Too many visibility changes for this listing today." / "Too many topic changes for this listing today." | Limits of 100 visibility and 50 topic changes in 24 hours. Wait. |
Import, assistant and recording#
